Soon after I released my last post about the hottest selling ebook on eBay,  the folks at eBay decided to clamp down the selling of digital products. Oh great! There goes my credibility all shot to hell! Here’s an article I found that may give a little light at the end of the tunnel…

On April 1st 2008 Ebay dropped the hatchet on many of those who are selling digital products on their network. While this news devastated some, this is actually good news for legit sellers. This puts the sellers of the 1 penny e-books down for the count. In the past this was a way to greatly manipulate your feedback as well as boost ACRU fees almost devilishly. With that said, the change will actually bring back respectability to Ebay’s digital products section.

As a seller of digital products myself the news at first was scary. However a warmth overcame me shortly as I realized this was actually a very good thing. It seemed far to often with Ebay, that people were selling useless, rehashed and often unfinished low quality products within. Many times these e-books were marketed for a penny and used to build up one’s email list and add extra increases to their feedback score. Most of these type of e-books offered little to no value to the reader whatsoever. Ebay realized the problem and had been working for a while now to put an end to this. Throughout April they expect to clean up their inventory greatly, by removing such gimmicks.

This opened up two options for anyone selling digital products on their network. The options were either to adapt or leave a rich cash harvesting empire behind. Even though Ebay now offers the classified ad feature where you may still place a digital product, most are not willing to go that route. The classified ad option does not allow one to collect feedback, nor are transaction actually done through Ebay. You must now add your own link or Paypal button to make the sale. The other way to still sell an e-book or digital product on Ebay is to have a physical product created with it and offer the digital product on a CD or DVD instead. That option simply isn’t in many marketers line of sight and may in fact, be to expensive.

Time will tell how the classified ad or CD/DVD options fare on Ebay but one thing is for certain this will help clean up much of the manipulation of sales, email accounts and feedback scores. Just the other day I already noticed a decline in amount of e-books and digital products listed on Ebay. If someone was looking to sell digital products on Ebay now is probably the best time. Right after something changes is usually the best time to get in on what is bound to be a good thing.

I’m sure you’ve heard that one of the best ways to make money on the internet is to create your own product.

Probably the simplest and least expensive is the creation of an ebook. You may be thinking yeah right or I can’t do that. Perhaps you have an ebook started, but just aren’t motivated to finish it. I know, because I’m there myself.

Well check this out. This is a screen shot of what has to be one of the biggest selling self published ebooks to hit eBay.

Hot Selling eBook

It’s by a young guy named Kekoa who resides in Hawaii. Kekoa uses the eBay ID: kekoa64.

Now my intent is really not to review this book, but to give you (and me) inspiration and motivation to create an ebook and sell it on eBay.

If you look at the title “Learn How My Girlfriend and I Make $100/hr!” what does it make you think? Do you say to yourself yeah right? Does it peak your curiosity? What ever you think you have to admit the title does catch your attention.

That’s exactly what a good title is supposed to do. See my post “Headlines that Draw Readers to Your Blog“.

Now I said that I wasn’t going to review this book, but I am going to give you things to think about.

First I would like you to go to eBay and look at the feedback that Kekoa has obtained. Use this link here: Kekoa64 – Feedback.

Pretty impressive I would say! Over 7000 positive feedbacks and a handful of negative feedbacks. Hey you can’t please everyone.

This is just one ebook on techniques he uses to make money. On average it looks like he sells or at least gets about ten feedbacks a day. So let’s say he’s selling about ten books a day at $9.99. That’s $99.99 a day (not deducting the fees for eBay and Paypal).

Still the money he’s pulling in is basically all on autopilot. Then when you look at the profit he’s made its well up in the tens of thousands of dollars! Holy crap!

All he does is strategically place the book up for auction at different times and days, and leaves feedback when a purchase is made.

A true example of an income stream! Are you motivated now?

Ok now here are some things I want you to think about. Be it negative or positive you need to listen carefully.

First the title “Learn How My Girlfriend and I Make $100/hr!”. Do you think they make that every hour of the day? Do they make that eight hours a day for a full 40 hour work week?

I once sold a used car for 500 dollars. It took me 3 days to sell it, but the actual deal took less than an hour. Should I write an ebook on “How I make $500/hr”? I think you get my drift.

Next if you’re really curious to the contents of the book and you’re reluctant to crack open your wallet (not even for $9.99) then here’s a little trick.

Look at the feedbacks, especially the negative feedbacks. The really disappointed buyers basically tell you why they don’t like the ebook and reveal some of the techniques!

Special note here. At the time of this post Kekoa64 has been suspended on eBay. He claims it’s due to some sort of misunderstanding with eBay. I don’t know. Also, if you surf the web for kekoa64 you’ll see there has been some controversy on how this ebook was able to maintain such a long lasting, high impact on eBay’s Impulse page. But I’m not gonna go there.

Another thing you can pickup from the feedbacks is the terms of his refund policy. I understand the reason why he sets it up this way, but as always there are the pros and cons.

I will admit I was curious and did buy the ebook. Did I learn anything from it? Yes I did. Was it worth the $9.99? Let’s put it this way. Any product that I buy boosting how it will help me make money had better do just that.

So yes I have made a few bucks and did get some ideas from the book.

A good rule of thumb is to give the system(s) a fair chance. Put the product to work. If after an honest effort to make it work you don’t make at least double of what you paid for the product then you may want to consider getting your money back.

Always, always be sure you fully understand the return/money back policy. If you’re not sure then contact the seller for clarification. Anybody who is confident in their product will spell it out to you.

Now get your butt in gear, write that ebook and start making some extra spending cash!

Until next time. Keep searching, keep an open mind, do your research, feed your mind, and have fun!

Are you one of those people that enjoys going to garage sales to find hidden treasure to resell on eBay?

Garage sales can yield some nice items for reselling on eBay and other online auctions. What happens when the selling season ends and you still got the itch to sell?

If you live in an area where the garage sale season runs from spring to fall, then you know that you’ll probably have to wait until next spring to start again.

Well here’s a slick method to locating year round garage sales, moving sales and even estate sales!

Most people are familiar with the website Craig’s List. Basically Craig’s List is a centralized network of online urban communities, featuring free classified advertisements (with jobs, housing, personals, for sale and much more)!

Here’s the method:

First go to Craig’s List. Click here.

You’ll see the site looks like the screen shot below. Note: This works best for people living in the United States, but if you live else where it still may be worth a shot.

Next locate the area where you live. For this example I’m using New York State.

Now locate and click on the city nearest you. For me it’s Binghamton.

In this next screen you’ll see a bunch of different categories. Locate the “for sale” category and click on the “garage sale” sub category.

Now here’s where it gets exciting. This next screen shot shows two garage sales and an estate sale that took place in January 2008! Now there were only three, but that’s better than none.

I’ve also discovered that there were several sales in December of 2007. I’m sure there will be more in February, March, and April. The cool thing is that the city of Ithaca, NY is close to me and there were a couple of winter garage/moving sales there as well.

In this last picture I clicked on the estate sale and it listed quite a few items plus it also says “too many items to list”. The fact it’s an estate sale and there are too many items to list is usually a good indication that there is very good profit potential here!

For privacy reasons I blackened out the reply ID and address of the sale. Take note though of the date: 2008-01-26.

Don’t let winter time put a damper on your garage/moving/estate sale fun.

Go ahead and give it a try! Play around on the Craig’s List website. Learn how to reply to the ads if necessary. It’s easy.
